Reese - AKA Wild Bill

Keep face clear of missiles!
Some photos from last summer of Reese at the Camp Ripely museum looking at a AH-1 Cobra helicopter. This was cool for him because uncle Tad has the GI Joe version of the same helicopter. The GI Joe version is called a "Dragonfly" (I guess Cobra was taken) and came with pilot "Wild Bill".

Name that GI Joe

Hey, see how many GI Joes you can pick out that you once owned! I count 40+. Tad, how many do you come up with? These are just the Joes. I wonder what the number would be including Cobras?

War movie highlight.

Man am I looking forward to this movie... visit www.greenzonemovie.com to see the trailer for "Green Zone". Created by the same film group that did the Bourne movies it will again star Matt Damon. If it is at all like any of the Bourne films should be great!

War movie highlight.

Just recently watched "The Hurt Locker". Not a bad war movie. Long, but that never bothers me much. Kind of different direction then you are usually used to in a war movie. I don't think most people would like it though. I think you would have to be a war movie buff to stick with it.

Man the guns!

Below are some photos of Reese playing on a howitzer. Some parents won't their kids play with guns, others go ahead and let them play on army artillery.

News Source.

Below are 2 great sources for military news and info. I like getting the news from soldiers perspectives instead of the biased media.

Reese and I have started making plans to create/ build an Amphibious Assault Ship. (also known as commando carrier or chopper carrier.) I have been thinking of building a ship that would be closer to scale for our GI Joes than anything that has been made for Joes. I am thinking it will also serve as a toy bin in the boys room to hold our mounting collection of crap. (Storage space built into the ships hull.) We chose this type of ship to build based on the vehicles we already have in the collective collection between my brother and Reese and I. Commando carriers have a well dock (Filled or flooded with water - See photo example) in the rear of the ship for Marine hovercrafts to drive directly into. (Tad has the original GI Joe hovercraft vehicle) Plus these ships are designed to carry hummers tanks and armored attack vehicles. (Below deck. - See photo example) The ship also resembles aircraft carriers, but are designed to support helicopters. Should be a cool fit since we have choppers, tanks, hummers and hovercraft. We will find out if I have the building skills for a project like this. I'll post updates on the progress.

Our ship will be built from wood not a model kit.

Hard to find.

There are a few Joes that are kind of tricky to find. I have never seen this dude in any store. (Reese and I check the action figure isle at every store.) Found him on ebay today for a reasonable price - coming from Canada. GI Joe: Airborne

Check this site out sometime. (make sure you have a fast connection) What a great site. be sure to visit the interactive virtual army base. I spent an hour on this site. As a web designer myself, I love the heavy use of video. Nobody wants to read anymore, just show it to me on video.

Blame it on the kids.

It's nice having kids so I can say that the GI Joe stuff I buy off ebay is for them. That's how I sleep at night. Below are a few photos of guys that are in the mail. Beachhead | Outback (one of my all time favorite Joes) | Hit&Run | Hummer. Click on any of the pics for large image.

Cammo pants, toy guns and GI Joe guys!

Hey,

This blog is mostly for my brother and I and my boys, but you are welcome to join in if you are as much of a army nerd as we are. I have no real reason for this blog other than to create an image collection of all the military crap and GI Joes we amass over time. Also I will upload pics of the army museums and air-shows we visit.

So here is to all you militants out there. Yo Joe!
